Hi ,
It looks like you're using an ad blocker.

The revenue generated from the adverts on the site is a critical part of our funding - and it's because of these ads that I can offer the site for free. But using the site for free AND blocking the ads doesn't feel like a great thing to do, which is why this box is so large and inconvenient. Some sites will completely block your access, but I'm not doing that - I'm appealing to your good nature instead. Did you know that you can allow ads for specific sites, whilst still blocking them on others?

Thanks,
Ian Williams aka Fetch

I have the Petzl Tikka 2 which was fine for me - until running last week with someone using the Lenser and I thought mine had gone out - how bright?

Lenser for me too, I like that the battery pack is separate and goes on my backpack. It's like a flipping beacon and has different settings. It also doesn't have a harsh line around the pool of light which some of them do and which messes with my head. It sort of fades towards the edges which is much better for me.

i run in dark country lanes and have found that the head torches i have used bounce about anoyingly on my head - so instead i carry a light weight LED hand torch instead

I wrap a Petzl Tikka around one hand, and flick it on when I need light or need to sure that someone will see me. But seeing in the dark is my superpower so I don't get through many batteries.

I have the Tikka and have to say I was underwhelmed the first time I used it. It just about shows enough on the pavement to see wear I'm going. Next time I'm just going to take my bike light in my hand as it clips of the handlebars. It's probably 2-3 times brighter.

Ah the annual head torch thread! Must nearly be time for the backpack thread too ;)

I have a lenser h14. Light and powerful enough. Mine didn't die in the downpour at the L50, but I was inside before it got too bad.

Chris, a couple of weeks ago someone mentioned their bouncy headtorch problem and a couple of people advised wearing a buff with the headtorch on that would solve the problem.

My current torch cost £3.99 from Wilkinson's and provides enough light to avoid falling down holes. (Actually, a bit more than that) Should I buy myself an Alpkit this year for a whole £15?
