Hi ,
It looks like you're using an ad blocker.

The revenue generated from the adverts on the site is a critical part of our funding - and it's because of these ads that I can offer the site for free. But using the site for free AND blocking the ads doesn't feel like a great thing to do, which is why this box is so large and inconvenient. Some sites will completely block your access, but I'm not doing that - I'm appealing to your good nature instead. Did you know that you can allow ads for specific sites, whilst still blocking them on others?

Thanks,
Ian Williams aka Fetch
or for an ad-free Fetcheveryone experience!

Is it just me or are there more adverts on Fetch

After some browsing around beer blogs, Die Zeit and El Pais I am much better informed at least. Mmm tasty beers, so many tasty beers - but not generally around here :-( I must go back to Bamberg. Very high winds in Germany have caused major disruption to trains and people are eagerly waiting for this year's Aldi e-bike. There is also a design-prize winning e-bike from Seattle which shares a name with my town. It has a Multifunktionslenkerbügel, which is a handlebar which doubles as a bike lock. Dancers in Valencia are very low paid, but their cutting edge concert hall has made its first profit in ten years.

All I have new though is ads for Medion laptops. Apart from that the usual Melia hotels, investment advice and, oh Tribesports - that's new, I think.

I think I need to go away and search for a new wheelbarrow or something as the Durex adds are making it far more awkward than normal to Fetch in the office.....

Who have I upset to deserve seeing this advert on every page this evening?

The image is strobing blue and red, just for extra annoyance.

I didn't notice before but now that you mentioned it I have noticed the advert for runners' nutrition - ie. Domino's pizza, wedges and fizzy drinks!

I'm getting fed up with the Northern Ireland one on the right column as there is no way of turning the sound of. I've had to resort to closing Fetch when I'm not actively browsing the site.

You can tell I'm not a chrome user, as I'm currently getting adverts for pet food.

About This Thread

Maintained by Son of a Pronator Man
Fetch says: "I don't choose the ads, I just supply the holes, and the people who pay my salary and supply a server choose what they want to put in them. The change was a surprise to me too, and I've asked for some clarification on the thinking.

If you get any particularly dodgy ones, e.g. Russian mail order brides, or ones that break the user experience, it would be helpful for me to see some screenshots (ian AT fetcheveryone.com), and I'll feed those back."

And: "I've just clicked the little blue triangle in the top right corner of the ad, and looked at the opt-out options. On the page it took me to (after it took a while to think about it), there was a button called something like 'Choose All Companies' - I clicked that, and thus far, it seems to have opted me out of all the ads."
