Hi ,
It looks like you're using an ad blocker.

The revenue generated from the adverts on the site is a critical part of our funding - and it's because of these ads that I can offer the site for free. But using the site for free AND blocking the ads doesn't feel like a great thing to do, which is why this box is so large and inconvenient. Some sites will completely block your access, but I'm not doing that - I'm appealing to your good nature instead. Did you know that you can allow ads for specific sites, whilst still blocking them on others?

Thanks,

All the cheese. All the fruit. On the same plate on occasion but never, never, never fruit in cheese.

Wensleydale with cranberrie sin it please. Also love brie and grape sandwiches. Generally I am all for fruit and veg with cheese.

Only the spawn of Satan think cheese is evil. Fruit should be on the side though.

Cheddar and apple sometimes OK.

Onions, on the side, yes.

Mozzarella with tomatoes (love apples), basil and olive oil.

Cheesecake is a narstee invention.

The only time hard cheese and fruit should mingle is in a cheddar and tomato chutney sandwich.

@George Smiley: chutney is just fancy jam really. (Another fan of the cheese and jam sandwich here. When I was a boy, family picnics always included fruit buns with cheese)

Oranj - chutney is way more than fancy jam. Jam is basically fruit, sugar, acid and setting agent. Chutney is sugar, vinegar, fruit & veg, no setting agent. And chutney needs 6 weeks to mature once it's made but jam is ready pretty much once it's cooled.

And sweet and savoury together is disgusting and makes my mouth cry. The Yorkshire habit of serving fruit cake (yum) with cheese (yum yum) is abhorrent.

I once tried Appenzeller cheese with apple strudel. That wasn't very nice, even in Switzerland.

I like a cheese and jam sandwich as well. Generally strawberry, but blackcurrant does as well. Hmm, I wonder about cheese and fresh strawberries now, in a sandwich?
