Hello Fetch buddies , long time fetchie here still aiming to tick off a few more marathons towards the100 as the years go by; i vary in the time i devote to this wonderful resource called Fetcheveryone- though my miles are always logged. It looks like i will be visiting Bristol a bit more often in future as daughter has bestowed upon us 2 amazing tiny granddaughters. When daughter lived near Cliftonwood/ Hotwells - i enjoyed running 1/2 mile down to the Avon trail and long runs to Pill. Now she has moved to North Bristol, Highbury Rd off Gloucester Road - so what routes are there nearby ? anything from 3-9-12 miles . Easy to search on Fetch or other lesser route websites . Many thanks Rob in North Wales ( & New Taid - thats granddad in Welsh

thanks , browsing them now, and trying to see how far from Southmead area. Is there a way when i click on public routes that the page stays Bristol rather than always returning to NWales ? thanks

I can't offer any specific routes, but that looks like a great location to live or to visit. I think my first option would be to go east to explore Purdown and the Stoke Park Estate. If you cross the M32, you can also get to the River Frome as well and to Eastville park, the home of Eastville parkrun. (I know a couple of people on Second option would be to run up Kellaway Avenue to The Downs, which I guess you know already from your earlier visits. The Downs offer an infinite number of different loops and permutations of different lengths and there are runners there from dawn to dusk. Congrats on the granddaughters! |

Thanks Synge- yes - looking at the Fetch logged routes - Kellaway rd to Downs looks good. I must admit o previous visits - i stuck to the Avon trail from Hotwells - so now its time to explore. Yes Stoke Park - we have visited for dog walking - whilst dogsitting - when daughter in Hosp- - aha eastville thanks - yes i need to look at map now , and even tho i'm more of a marathon nerd - a new parkrun could be good , i did walk/jog to the AShton court one from theire prev house, thanks

Other than the excellent fetch routes, I also use plotaroute.com to find and create routes.

The disused railway to Bath, and crossing the Severn Bridge would attract me if I'd not already done them.

Hello wrexhamrob! I'm a Bristol native, who has now left, but whose parents and sister live a bit further out (Henbury) these days. Up that end of town you are close to a few big green areas. Particularly Snuff Mills which is delightful. A bit further North is little Stoke which leads into some good green bits and the area around Catbrain Hill is great 😍 watch out for houses being built on the old airport at Filton. Lots of closed paths up there at the moment. If you're looking a bit further afield we love through Blaise to the Portway and then into town. And finally the area around Hallen has loads of old roads that were turned to foot and cycle routes because of the motorway junction that doesn't exist and can make great routes and links up well to Severn Beach via a decent route away from the road in most places. The sea wall is currently closed I believe but you can also get a train back if you've gone too far. We usually link up footpaths using OS maps to create routes. Eastville is a hilly parkrun so save some for the end 😂 Have fun. |

um
rob - if on a pc, how about right clicking on the route & open in a new tab? That way the original map stays in place. And you can click on a whole load and then just flick through the tabs.
