You want to know? Basically the heater hose had to come off for some reason. As I tried getting it off this union thingy it crumbled like the cheap piece of 30 yo alloy it was. FFS. Put a spanner on the thing, it was solid and I guessed to much graunching whittle reduce the remainder to crumbs as well, but inside the inlet manifold. The only way to get a new union piece was to buy an entire second hand manifold with it in there. I thought I'd have to change the whole thing which annoyed me, many bolts and a carb linkage not to mention having to buy gaskets. Then I decided, bollocks that thing is coming out, after checking the one was loose, it was. And to began a very tedious week. Before work I went to the car cleaned off the joint sprayed WD on tapped it with a hammer, cleaned it, sprayed it again. Came home from work, same thing. For a full 6 days. Day 7, put the spanner back on, thing span out like it was brand new. That is the most patient I've ever been with anything. |
