Hi ,
It looks like you're using an ad blocker.

The revenue generated from the adverts on the site is a critical part of our funding - and it's because of these ads that I can offer the site for free. But using the site for free AND blocking the ads doesn't feel like a great thing to do, which is why this box is so large and inconvenient. Some sites will completely block your access, but I'm not doing that - I'm appealing to your good nature instead. Did you know that you can allow ads for specific sites, whilst still blocking them on others?

Thanks,
Ian Williams aka Fetch

I’ve just spent longer than it should have taken attaching the bracket for adding caravan electrics to the Landrover. Fortunately I’ve got a garage full of long bars, an impact driver and a can of PlusGas, so there’s not much that won’t shift eventually. Let’s hope that’s the hard bit done and the wiggly amps bit will be a piece of cake*.

* clearly unlikely, given my track record with electrickery.

I imagine you've got some decent FO-big hammers too :-)

Frustrating day of piss poor wiring diagrams, incomplete instructions, inaccessible clips/chocboxes and sundry annoyances. Punctuated by torrential thunderstorm showers. The toys left the cot some hours ago.

Fair to say it’s been a bit of a trial, and it’s not over yet. We have finally made a wee bit of progress though. Hoping to get it finished tomorrow.

Blue smoke and bloody mirrors, I tell you.

Back from our holidays, where the electric addition performed flawlessly (providing a cold beer on arrival - possibly the most important accessory I've ever accessorised! ;) :) )

Next up: annual service (oils, filters, check levels, brake pads, drive belt) and 2 new front tyres which I'll get someone else to do. Next week when H goes back to work and I've got the house to myself.

After that: the VFR needs to be back on the road. I've got an itch to scratch.

Good work big lad. Doing the drive belt yerself? Of course you are. I've got to have my van done this week, I hate doing it because there's only about 20k on the clock since I last had it done .... time expired sadly and I've seen what a mess a broken cambelt makes of an engine. Taking it to a local VW specialist.

Yep, definitely not worth playing Russian roulette with that!
I’m fortunate in that I long ago bought the special spanners so getting at the belt is actually pretty easy. I'm going to check the belt tensioner while I'm in there because it’s not been done recently.

Just checked the weather forecast - looks like I might need to put the gazebo up after all. For shade!! Wonders will never cease. :)
