Does anyone else start to feel cold about 30 mins after their long run? I had it happen for the last three weeks (3-4hrs of running each time). I'm wondering what causes it.

Yup, happens sometimes. I take it to mean I've not fuelled well (or that I've still got my sweaty top on) I usually try to be in the bath with a cup on tea in hand within 30 mins of the end of my LSR

I think it's just because you have used up so many calories that your body doesn't have enough to keep you as warm as normal. As Homer says, get out of the gear you were running in, and try to get something to eat as soon as you can after finishing, or at least some recovery drink if you can't face eating straight away.

Could it be because all the blood is still pumping to your muscles, leaving your core chilled ? Change out of wet or sweaty clothes a warm drink ( not cold/iced) and keep yourself warm until it has passed.

Happens to me after every run, whatever I do

I just make sure I have extra layers to put on and have a hot drink

Like Homer, I find a soak in a hot bath the best remedy after a long run. Maybe being out for all that time just runs you down a bit and gives you less energy for just keeping warm.

Did my long run this morning and didn't have time for a soak.

I've just got into the office for the afternoon, I'm freezing in here: I'm the only person wearing both a jumper and a fleece.

About twenty minutes after most runs for me. As others have said, out of sweaty kit, hot drink, something to eat and a hot shower or bath sort it.

That's a very long time to be out for your long run - are you ultra training?

You wouldn't do a four hour long run training for a marathon surely? Not something I've ever seen recommended at any level.
