Hi ,
It looks like you're using an ad blocker.

The revenue generated from the adverts on the site is a critical part of our funding - and it's because of these ads that I can offer the site for free. But using the site for free AND blocking the ads doesn't feel like a great thing to do, which is why this box is so large and inconvenient. Some sites will completely block your access, but I'm not doing that - I'm appealing to your good nature instead. Did you know that you can allow ads for specific sites, whilst still blocking them on others?

Thanks,
Ian Williams aka Fetch

Hugs to all. And remember, be kind to yourselves!

We've had to take a couple of weeks off from sorting dad's crap. We were burned out and it was starting to affect us, as a couple. We've certainly learned a lot from his selfish, lazy, way of living life ~ we are already putting stuff in place to aid each other for when one of us goes ~ or for those left behind if we happen to depart at tge same time!

Sibling still thinks that dad's hording of crap was a dragon's horde of gold ... I'm so glad that we put finding and consolidating it all in the hands of a probate bod/specialist (not a full solicitor, but works at a renowned Solicitors and, due to the not a >full< on solicitor ... so her rate is lower but her training is equal ;) ~ worth knowing if you need 'more milk to your moo').

That sounds very worrying G_g. I hope he’s able to get support without too much delay.

He's just let me know that they're keeping him in. It's been a long afternoon of no news.

Apparently my uncle is doing a bit better, thinner liquids and more solid food, which hopefully means his swallow and speech are improving.

I thought I'd start a thread, as lots of us have elderly folks that we worry about/care for.

Also: After someone dies, if their home insurance was only in their name, sadly the cover becomes void. But if the policy was in joint names, it will still cover the surviving policyholder (though the names on the policy will need to be updated).

Pension Credit. The rules are a bit complex but if your elderly relative has some sort of disability (in this case dementia/Alzheimer's) and go into a home, they may be able to claim pension credit. So if carers allowance stops, it seems pension credit can start. It can also be backdated.
