I was tracking really well through the half and feeling good with my HR. Around 25k, my legs just gave out on me and that was game over. Fortunately, it wasn't my soleus, which is a huge positive. It's the hardest race I've run mentally to keep myself going. I walked through a couple of water stations near the end just to try and recover but it just wasn't my day. It was a fantastic experience though and I'm relieved to have made the start, as well as still managing a sub 3:30. Lack of time on legs in the last 5 weeks due to injury had shown. I'm sure a huge family holiday with lots and lots of walks has contributed. I have run a major and had an epic holiday with a mass of emotions, good and very sad. It was epic. 3:24:47 How about yourself? |

Sorry to hear some of that, but the rest sounds great. I set myself 3 targets, and I got all 3. Under 4 hours because I've not done that for a few years, under 3:50 as that's the Boston qualifying time for my age group, and under 3:45 to have a buffer on the BQ. Had a good time in Chicago seeing load of the sights, though we walked too far on the Saturday after I'd done the 5k. But it seems this time it didn't matter. |
