Fizz :-)
Also, turn it on at home and make sure that the "distance to start" is roughly what you're expecting. I had a race about 50 miles away, and Garmin said it was 3,000 miles away, I thought it was just because it was having trouble locating the satellites or something - turned out that the course hadn't uploaded properly I never did work out why.

Hmmm, can't check that until Friday at the earliest, but I will do once I'm up there. Thanks Fizz!

Anyone know how to get a route from Fetch onto a Garmin via Garmin CONNECT, rather than Garmin TRAINING CENTER?

Sorry Fitz never tried that, but the Garmin Training Center is free to download.
I download routes from Fetch via the Training Center to my Garmin regularly and it makes route following so much easier and quicker especially on events where the the course is not marked (e.g. some LDWA events). I only started to do this a couple of years ago and I wish I had started doing it earlier !

Glad to have found this thread - I'm going to give it a go tomorrow. I want an 8 mile run, and I've created a route for myself which includes just one section that I haven't run before. The unfamiliar bit *should* be fairly straightforward, but it will be nice to have the extra feedback.
Am I right in assuming my Garmin will still record my run, including pace and HR and everything?

Yes it will Rev. We do this for the LWDA events we do, plan the route in map my run using instructions load onto watch, it will keep ticking over while you are doing the course and will tell how long left to go.
Speedy the compass is one of the screen options, I use the line one, but Magpie uses the compass. That's on the 305 garmin. You can also zoom in or out on the line one to see really tricky bits in good detail.

Right - have hit a snag. Can't find where to download Garmin Training Centre from (I'm familiar with Garmin Connect). I've looked at the main Garmin site, and the only software it seems to be offering me is something called Garmin Express, which seems to be about updating the software on my watch - a Forerunner 410.
Can anyone help?
