Thing is, the stuff that I've been doing has been between 8.40 and 9.20, nboth on and off road, with hills and without. Assuming a 7.45 PMP, 9s wouldn't be too disastrous. I've actually got a "default" marathon pace of 3.57.

I quite like the idea of taking cake on, though, so I might stop occasionally for that.

We could give it a go and see what happens.

cake did someone say cake! Of course we can stop for that!

It's not a race, as I keep telling myself, just a long run! If it gets too fast/too hard, or we change our mind mid-route, or one of us wants to push on, I've no problem with that if that's ok with you? I did it with a clubmate and some runners from another club I know on an LDWA event recently and it worked really well.

We could aim to meet up at the school about 8.15 beforehand if you like?

Sounds good to me. I'll be in Fetch kit, but I'll ping you an f-mail with my mobile number. I'll be leaving Great Grimsby around 6 anyway, so trusting the traffic to play ball, 8.15 should be fine.

I'll probably have my Abbey vest that I have on in the photos on my profile, but if not I'm 6'4", so fairly difficult not to spot. Will fmail you my mobile as well.

Probably leaving Leeds about the same time, so should be ok with traffic at that time on a Sat!

Looking forward to Saturday now. First time I've entered the 26, usually do the 15/16 route.

Had a look at the map tonight and they are going in completely different direction to any I remmebr them going before. Should be a flatter start until at least the first checkpoint.

Good luck everyone and have fun :o)

Are you local Rog? What's it likely to be like underfoot?

Live about 30 miles north, bit judging by our local conditions I don't think it will be a total mudbath like it has been in previous years.

However after 1100 have run across a field it isn't going to be a perfect surface.....

Still trying to decide if this is going to be an all out effort or a fully litter up test run for Lakeland 50 prep.

I will be. Mainly because by the time I get to the downhill bits the fast guys and gals at the front will have chewed the ground up.

And I don't want to get my road shoes dirty ;o)

Hope you all have a good run. Weather forecast is looking good.

Just had a look at the route. Looks ok. Long way between the last CP and the finish - might need to stock up on cake at 18miles! No massive hills, but a few bumpy bits by the looks of it - by my reckoning worst two "hills" are the bit up to Belvoir Castle and a climb just before the last CP at about 17mi, and the run in along the last 2-3miles looks reasonably nice - a gentle slope downhill.
