Hi ,
It looks like you're using an ad blocker.

The revenue generated from the adverts on the site is a critical part of our funding - and it's because of these ads that I can offer the site for free. But using the site for free AND blocking the ads doesn't feel like a great thing to do, which is why this box is so large and inconvenient. Some sites will completely block your access, but I'm not doing that - I'm appealing to your good nature instead. Did you know that you can allow ads for specific sites, whilst still blocking them on others?

Thanks,
Ian Williams aka Fetch

I aspire to bench-pressing wardrobes, Oscar, it's next on my to-do list. ;-)

KHK - press ups are a fine upper body exercise, but if you only do press ups you’ll only work a small number of upper body muscles because press ups only work pressing muscles; predominantly pec major & anterior deltoid, triceps come in at the end to extend the elbow.
Carrying the wardrobe is closer to a pulling movement, so other than your trunk muscles, you’re unlikely to have trained the muscles used for carrying by just doing press ups.

Thanks HK, that makes perfect sense. I feel some bicep curls coming on.

Curls would make some sense, but not much. Curls are a single joint or isolation exercise, press ups are a multi joint or compound exercise. Muscles and muscle groups work in antagonist pairings so it would be better to pair a press up with a row of some sort. If you curl you’ll be working the antagonist to the triceps but you won’t be working the pec major and anterior deltoid fibre antagonists.
