i was just saying that it *would* be entertaining!
Unless there are a few more Jeffs in the offing, this year will be a blip on that fundraising level though. That was an extraordinary coup!

But even deducting Jeffs figure it would have surpasssed any previous year by over 30%
Cuddles will have 100k by the end of the summer - a great guy, true gentleman

Brathay will do what that deem best for the fundraising side of things, so any thoughts about it are moot.
I agree - From afar it was fantastic to see Jeff's approach and application to the event. Much Respect!

I think a 10 in 10 documentary would be of great interest, from a past perspective, and also if they followed runners throughout their training and into the race.
The Eddie Izzard documentary a few years ago, was truly awe inspiring - 43 marathons in 51 days with only 6 weeks prep, and a non-runner! I know he took 8+ hours most days to complete, but his final marathon was 5:00:30 (he classed that as a failure as he was aiming for sub-5), it shows you what the human condition is capable of.

I think Eddie Izzard did run most of it. The reason it took him so long most days was because he kept stopping to chat to people, have photos taken, see the sights etc.

Err - not really. The day I joined him he mainly walked due to an injury, but most days he ran. The extended time was due to the need to incorporate visits / interviews etc into the day (again on the day I was with him he'd stopped to do an interview for local TV, and then a couple of hours later stopped again to review the edited video to ensure he was happy with it). On the final day, it would have been 4:30 except that the rickshaw that was filming him got stuck in London traffic and he stopped for half an hour to let it catch up. Because the fundraising was the driver, he had to compromise the pure running for the publicity opportunities.

cross-post - "not really" was in response to Paul's post.

he ran when i was with him for both days too. He was stopping at schools and stuff and that was factored into his times. 8hr Marathon is a long walk, i agree, but Eddie did run.
