Oscar's Everyone Day

23rd June 2024
In 2021 Oscar the Grouch proposed one day each year where "we unite as a community and EVERYONE records an activity of some sort - a dog walk, a run, a swim, a ride, ski if you want...".

Sadly we lost Oscar in March, so I'd like to dedicate Everyone Day to him. Thank you for the inspiration you gave us Oscar.

Long Eaton Running Club
About Me
I was never a runner or the sporty type, I didn't enter sports day at School, I hated Physcial Education and never did any form of physcial activity in my spare time...but now I am...I do..and I love it!

I began running as a serious recreational runner in February of 2008 primarily to lose weight as part of' 'Slimming World' and slowly built up my mileage starting at 11 minute mileing.

I entered my first race in June of 2008 ( the Long Eaton 5 Mile Road Race) finishing in a time of 43 mins 42 secs running alongside other members of Slimming World, entered the same race this year (2010) and crossed the finishing line in a time of 32 minutes and 44 seconds.

Eventually hit my target weight and having developed my interest in running decided to join the Long Eaton running club in October of 2008. During my time with the club my race times have improved due to the great support, training and friendship from it's members.

I went on to run my first Half Marathon in 2009 followed a year later by my first ever Marathon in a time of 4 hrs and 15 mins.
