Hi ,
It looks like you're using an ad blocker.

The revenue generated from the adverts on the site is a critical part of our funding - and it's because of these ads that I can offer the site for free. But using the site for free AND blocking the ads doesn't feel like a great thing to do, which is why this box is so large and inconvenient. Some sites will completely block your access, but I'm not doing that - I'm appealing to your good nature instead. Did you know that you can allow ads for specific sites, whilst still blocking them on others?

Thanks,

Chappy I ran this race on a whim. I haven't trained for a 1/2 for a good 18 months, in fact I haven't run over 10 miles for that long. I took it steady and ran with one the guys from the club to help me keep a manageable pace. From 11 miles it was hard, the lack of distance training was evident, however, I was pleased with 8th.

RFJ Planning this as a long trg run...... will be a PW most likely and gained....

A rarity - A Race Report from me.

RACE REPORT - Vale of Pewsey 1/2 Mara

Conditions started off being hot then half hour before clouded over - perfect. The plan today was to get a PW! Strange you may say, but no, I wanted a motivator to get me back into long running again after my knee injury, so planned this race, and to run it at a pace that I would enjoy and be able to handle on the day..... meet up with a few forumites from RW threads which was good. Pace wise wanted to keep around 8:30 -8:45 with the hills.

so off we go on a nice undulating course:

1m - 8:43 (Inc a pee stop)
2m - 8:49 up and down
3m - 8:23 feeling OK and chatting a plenty
4m - 8:40 And a long Hill up, tag on with a group
5m - 8:17 On to the flat and still comfy
6m - 8:06 A bit fast, but moving with the group
7m - 8:06 Same as mile 6, but group start to speed up so let them go
8m - 8:02 Still going too fast, but chatting again (possible cause)
9m - 8:31 Back to the undulations
10m - 8:19 Catch 2 of the group that I let go
11m - 8:51 Dont know what happened here as lost no ground
12m - 8:08 Know sub 1:50 is on so start kicking and passing several who are finding it hard.
13m - 8:00 Still pushing despite a long drag up hill, get taken by two runners as I take 4 others
0.10 - 42 secs push for the line and get anotehr just before the line

Finish with a 1:49:45
So plan achieved a PW by 3 mins, dont care about that as the run was good, and the objective well and truely achieved - I can now use this and push on.

Thanks to all the marshalls - you were great today.

Take care

Wilbur Lovely route, good organisation and just a personal shame that the knee problem caused me from missing out on what was a definite PB. Still, nothing structural wrong according to the physio so just need to stretch/strengthen and grit my teeth.
