Christmas: ostensibly named after Jesus Christ, but a blatant rip-off of Yule/Saturnalia. Eat, drink, be merry and give gifts (church optional). Easter: ostensibly celebrating the resurrection of Jesus Christ, but with a name sounding suspiciously like that of the goddess Oestre. Eat chocolate eggs mysteriously laid by a rabbit (church optional). Hallowe'en: the eve of All Hallows' Day, but resembling Samhain and other pagan festivals. Dress up as scary or slutty things (church very optional). Shrove Tuesday: last day before the penitential season of Lent. Eat all the pancakes (church very optional).

Season is an American term based on the way shows are programmed in the US. I hate that we are also adopting the word 'drop' in terms of the release of something. e.g. "Kendrick Lamarr's new album to drop on 15th". The new Freebie NME has a section called something like 'The latest releases and when to drop them'. Like 'drop' means 'listen to'. Twats.

Bollocks like 'Black Friday' and 'Cyber MOnday' grind my gears far more.... Also endless charity stunts - like Movember. ARRRGGGGHHH.
