Hi ,
It looks like you're using an ad blocker.

The revenue generated from the adverts on the site is a critical part of our funding - and it's because of these ads that I can offer the site for free. But using the site for free AND blocking the ads doesn't feel like a great thing to do, which is why this box is so large and inconvenient. Some sites will completely block your access, but I'm not doing that - I'm appealing to your good nature instead. Did you know that you can allow ads for specific sites, whilst still blocking them on others?

Thanks,
Ian Williams aka Fetch

1) The death of "going to" in public speech, replaced by "gonna." They're all at it, the BBC, the Prime Minister, everyone. I'm gonna lose my rag about this soon.

2) The misconception that "myriad" is a mass noun.

Maybe I should get out more...

Oh, and 3) .......... the abuse of the ellipsis!

Politicians' ability to lapse into lazyspeak. As in "Families "n" business" need a break from the Chancellor (E.Milliband). It's "and", dummy.

"Team GB". It's the United Kingdom of Great Britain & Northern Ireland, or UK for short. Can we not call it the "UK team" or even "the British Olympic team".

Paula Bashing has been grinding my gears since Athens.

I was driving home from a wedding the day after the marathon in 2004 and the phone in on 5-live was unbelievable, especially the guest journalist in the studio who probably only ever runs to get to the free pies in the press room. She was injured she tried her hardest to win. I nearly pulled the car over and phoned in it still winds me up eight years later I wish I could remember who he was.
