Hi ,
It looks like you're using an ad blocker.

The revenue generated from the adverts on the site is a critical part of our funding - and it's because of these ads that I can offer the site for free. But using the site for free AND blocking the ads doesn't feel like a great thing to do, which is why this box is so large and inconvenient. Some sites will completely block your access, but I'm not doing that - I'm appealing to your good nature instead. Did you know that you can allow ads for specific sites, whilst still blocking them on others?

Thanks,
Ian Williams aka Fetch

Paula Bashing has been grinding my gears since Athens.

I was driving home from a wedding the day after the marathon in 2004 and the phone in on 5-live was unbelievable, especially the guest journalist in the studio who probably only ever runs to get to the free pies in the press room. She was injured she tried her hardest to win. I nearly pulled the car over and phoned in it still winds me up eight years later I wish I could remember who he was.

Getting a load of mindless administration to do in the form of repeat prescribing update requests on which "re-authorise" is relentlessly abbreviated to "re-orth".

Getting a load of mindless administration to do because people who get free prescriptions don't want to pay for paracetamol and heartburn medicine and athlete's foot cream.

The fat bloke in the cafe shovelling a big fry up down his throat while moaning about his weight. A work mate kicked me in the shin as he thought I was going to say something to him.

Simon Callow and a trailer he recently recorded for a Proms celebration of Ivor Novello. Callow spoke of Novello's "bigness of spirit". Bigness? Come on, Callow, you see yourself as an old man's Stephen Fry, or John Hurt, or whoever, a bit of a luvvie, treading the boards, darling, at least spare the time to brush up on your grammar, perhaps?
