Hi ,
It looks like you're using an ad blocker.

The revenue generated from the adverts on the site is a critical part of our funding - and it's because of these ads that I can offer the site for free. But using the site for free AND blocking the ads doesn't feel like a great thing to do, which is why this box is so large and inconvenient. Some sites will completely block your access, but I'm not doing that - I'm appealing to your good nature instead. Did you know that you can allow ads for specific sites, whilst still blocking them on others?

Thanks,
Ian Williams aka Fetch

Carving pumpkins is the fault of the Scots, although they used to do it with turnip.

God (not the Americans) gave rock and roll to us, surely. Put it in the soul of everyone.

Carving a swede, my old man used a power drill.....

We carved swedes... except they were called "turnips" up north in those days. It was entirely uncommercial, and even mildly sinister.

The smell of burning turnip still makes me quite nostalgic, and the stuff you carve out of the middle is almost edible (before anybody cooks it).

Still baffled by the trick or treat thing, though.

Aye, they were turnips back them. I was latterly astonished that turnips were the small things and wwedes the big ones. I like turnip/swede.

Twice in a week now I've been caught in a jam on the M1 because of accidents on the OTHER carriageway. Shoot the fcukers.

we carved turnips (swedes) too.

and did apple bobbing, and the apples suspended on string thing. i seem to remember you usually got a toffee apple, too.

we didn't trick or treat, tho. that is an american import, i think. not that it's their fault, it's our fault for copying.

We have proper witches on Halloween. Dancing in the woods. All bouncing flaccid boobies and little purple willies under rolls of fat.
