Hi ,
It looks like you're using an ad blocker.

The revenue generated from the adverts on the site is a critical part of our funding - and it's because of these ads that I can offer the site for free. But using the site for free AND blocking the ads doesn't feel like a great thing to do, which is why this box is so large and inconvenient. Some sites will completely block your access, but I'm not doing that - I'm appealing to your good nature instead. Did you know that you can allow ads for specific sites, whilst still blocking them on others?

Thanks,
Ian Williams aka Fetch
or for an ad-free Fetcheveryone experience!

Oh, and, of course, Instagram. IF you were old enough to remember polaroid, or vinyl LPs, or cassettes, you can justifiably remember the retro feel and look of old photos. But hipster yoofs taking pictures yesterday and giving them a 70s feel's just wrong. If you weren't there, you're not entitled, so yah boo sucks.

Where as for clothes, the rule is totally the other way (so I'm told): you shouldn't wear clothes that are having a revival if you wore them the first time around.

I can't think of anything I wore the first time round that I'd wear now. Ponchos? Hot pants? Corduroy dungarees? Laura Ashley floral frocks? Handkerchief hems? Bay City Rollers trousers? Frillly shirts? Safety pins in my ears? Maxi skirts? Ugh!

Leggings? I wore them a lot back in the 90s and I have a drawer full now. Only black / dark grey tho, I'm not going back to the leary patterns I favoured as a student.

Did leggings ever really disappear though?

No. They just went underground and became the garment that you wore around the house but would have to put some proper clothes to answer the door.

The first leggings I ever had were for running. I don't have the legs for leggings, and never have. They're definitely functional rather than decorative legs :)

The use of the word "slash" instead of oblique for /

Oblique is a beautiful word. Slash is not.

Oblique is an adjective; slash a noun.

I still prefer the former as a word.
