Hi ,
It looks like you're using an ad blocker.

The revenue generated from the adverts on the site is a critical part of our funding - and it's because of these ads that I can offer the site for free. But using the site for free AND blocking the ads doesn't feel like a great thing to do, which is why this box is so large and inconvenient. Some sites will completely block your access, but I'm not doing that - I'm appealing to your good nature instead. Did you know that you can allow ads for specific sites, whilst still blocking them on others?

Thanks,
Ian Williams aka Fetch

I'm 60 next year. It'll be Stef and I's 10th wedding anniversary and Tussock vizsla will be 10 in the summer. I'll be 5 years all clear of cancer later on. I'm planning something good for every month of the year :-)

Back towards being on topic: sub 23 min 5K and sub 7 min track mile after I'm 60. Mile will be easier than 5 K I think

I’d be very happy just to be injury free and fit enough to regularly run two to three times a week.
If I can manage that for six months then I might consider improving/maintaining times a higher priority.

DT - Sub 7 hurts but juts not for as long. I always try to run as fast as I can fit a Mike in Jan as it gives me a gauge of how fit I am. In reality it’s told me how unfit I have become - I need to shed a few pounds to say the least. I think the 5km sounds easier personally !

EY - good luck on the injury front something personally I have been lucky with. A ruptured ACL once kept me out for 10 days but that’s as bad as it has been in my 18 years of running. Missed 20 days in July but that was mental as detailed in yesterdays blog.

I also like the above plan.
I think a race every month for 2024 is a fitting tribute.Nothing longer than 10k unless I feel super fit ;)

For me to be able to run without pain and with my knee feeling like a giant birds claw is clasped around it (which isn't always painful, but annoying and restrictive). Nothing more. Hadn't missed a stretch of more than 5 days for 14 years til September this year. How things change.
