I am 49 turning 50 at the end of the year which age group time should I be targeting? 41-49 or 50-59. It may sound like a daft question but in triathlon I will be competing in 50-54 before my 50th birthday |

It's the age you will be on the day of the race that counts. So if you will be 50 on VLM day 2016, the time you set in a 2015 race, even though you are 49 when you set it, can be used as a 50 yo qualifying time |

strange that the vet cat starts at 41 but nexrt category starts at 50 - you would think 40 & 50 or 41 & 51 - my OCD hates this although means I get to the next cat quicker |

There didn't used to be be a *next* category. It went right from 41 to about 59 or 69 or something. That's new. But yes, age on day of race. And I think they've got the date wrong on the page here virginmoneylondonmarathon.com because it says "... the times must have been achieved since the 1st January 2013" For 2016 that should be since Jan 1 2014, I think. i.e. qualifying lasts up to just over 2 years, not 3 years. Good luck. G

indeed Happy in theory I have a place for 2015, 2016 & 2017 as long as the goalposts don't move.
