my club nights are Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday, and I normally do hard intervals on Tuesday and Thursday with an easy base recovery run on the Wednesday, but this Tuesday I was working and couldn't get to the session.
which would be better for my training? a) run last nights session tonight, meaning two hard sessions in a row. b) just do my usual base run and only do two out of the normal three sessions of speed work sessions this week.
I had a hard weekend and haven't run since Sunday... any help would be appreciated, thanks

simple...drop the session, and continue with your normal scheduled runs. You won't gain much in the way of fitness by doing two hard back-to-back, but you do increase the risk of injury, illness or 'under recovery'.

Jack Daniels actually advocates the "two hard, two easy" approach and reckons it's more effective than the "hard, easy, hard, easy" approach. I often do a 3hard, two easy approach.
Depends how likely you are to get injured I guess

I would suggest that given your increasing mileage recently 2 hard sessions in a row would not be ideal.
Its easy to get carried away when you are peaking so try not to get injured now!

Also have to say you from your profile that you have been running really well recently, the commitment to training is paying off so well done!

Who is Jack Daniels. Also, does hard+hard mean two back to back sessions (which I respectfully think is daft) or session + long run, which makes some sense and I actually did yesterday and today.
I agree with SODiron on this question though. I'm older and probably slower to recover than you are, but depending on the session I often struggle to get above a crawl the next day, which I take as a hint to have a recovery run instead.
