Hi ,
It looks like you're using an ad blocker.

The revenue generated from the adverts on the site is a critical part of our funding - and it's because of these ads that I can offer the site for free. But using the site for free AND blocking the ads doesn't feel like a great thing to do, which is why this box is so large and inconvenient. Some sites will completely block your access, but I'm not doing that - I'm appealing to your good nature instead. Did you know that you can allow ads for specific sites, whilst still blocking them on others?

Thanks,
Ian Williams aka Fetch

Liebling is back and knackered from visiting the Aged Ps. I got the better side of this bargain...

I suggested an Oxford TBC. This is the sort of route I have in mind, but I would need to check it out and wouldn't do that until it's fairly dry - say April. There is a ferry marked on the OS map and I'd also have to check that that exists, as TeeBee told me the ferry in near Eel Pie island that's marked on the map and with signposts has been defunct for at least 20 years.

It's 11-12 miles. The important thing is, it starts and finishes at the Trout.

MMMmm, trout.

Liebling went to Oxford. This means she has free use of all pubs and bars. Maybe.

I had half an idea for a Cambridge TBC route - we could have a varsity match :-)

How many bridges *between* Oxford and Cambridge? (We'd have to do MK and redo the Bedford Bridges on the way)

How many bridges is just one question. The Thames (or Isis) here doesn't have paths on each side so we can't just cross a bridge and carry on. Some of the paths are not PROWs, but for instance, Christ Church meadow is open. Some of the bridges might well be private leading to colleges. There used to be public footpaths from Magdalen Bridge along the Cherwell past Parsons' Pleasure but no more.

Why did we rule out running along the canals from Paddington to Limehouse? Too many bridges? Too many joggers murdered by being pushed in?
