Just listened to stonechat and I reckon blackcap is a pebble and stonechat a stone

Interesting, Fragile, never noticed anything about a blackcap which was in anyway stone-related . I'll have to listen out for that one.

Have to say a huge thanks to all on here for their fabulous bits of advice/book recommendations on recognising bird song. Still waiting for the mystery warbler to put in a long enough appearance for a definite ID, I am leaning towards garden warbler though. Evening walk along the river a couple of nights ago, it is a different beast just before sunset. I was very surprised to see large numbers of both curlew and wood pigeons all intermingled feeding on the marshy grasslands. |

5 or 6 swift directly over the house and garden this morning. I feel so relieved :):):) I couldn’t love where there were no swifts
