What with Bradley on the cusp of history What with the Olympics around the corner What with England in command against the South Africans What with Liverpool drawing Gomel or Renova FC in the Europa League third qualifying round ... ...is there enough excitement left for The Open??? Of course because it just fucking Golf innit and therefore can only create 0.01% excitement in a properly formulated sporting brain. This 0.01% has already been used up by Luke Donald hitting a lad on the head with a ball off the xxx tee.

I am so glad I got that wrong, which shows how stunningly interesting it is as a sport.

I like golf. It takes all the most badly dressed dyspeptic middle aged male Toryboys in Britain and sticks them in the middle of a big field where no-one else has to look at them.

There's your Down South problem. In Scotland, Ireland and even I expect, parts of England, people play golf (ordinary people) because they want to play golf. Down There, people play golf because they want to be members of a golf club.
