Hi ,
It looks like you're using an ad blocker.

The revenue generated from the adverts on the site is a critical part of our funding - and it's because of these ads that I can offer the site for free. But using the site for free AND blocking the ads doesn't feel like a great thing to do, which is why this box is so large and inconvenient. Some sites will completely block your access, but I'm not doing that - I'm appealing to your good nature instead. Did you know that you can allow ads for specific sites, whilst still blocking them on others?

Thanks,
Ian Williams aka Fetch

These are awesome. I have been known to make them in July. I love mince pies, sadly it shows.

I had one at our club 5k Santa Canta yesterday - it was a mini one with a crumbly topping, home made and very tasty. So I suppose my total is one so far - I did decline a shop-bought one on Friday as shop-bought mince pies are, as someone has already pointed out, an abomination. I haven't started production yet, but when I do I will use the pastry recipe I've used for the past 20+ years, which includes ground almonds, egg yolk and orange juice/rind. They are delicious :-)

I don't like them, but the kids (and grid) do, this thread has prompted me to make some soon. Should I add in what they eat?

I had half a mince pie at a race on Friday (brand unknown) and a “ mulled fruit tart” at RHS Wisley yesterday, which was a mince pie in all but name. It was very nice though, it had a crumble topping.

Fetch total = 9.5

Great sadness 🙁 Sherry’s mincemeat has not survived its summer hibernation so no mince pies this evening!
All the more to look forward to later in the week though 😀
