Hi ,
It looks like you're using an ad blocker.

The revenue generated from the adverts on the site is a critical part of our funding - and it's because of these ads that I can offer the site for free. But using the site for free AND blocking the ads doesn't feel like a great thing to do, which is why this box is so large and inconvenient. Some sites will completely block your access, but I'm not doing that - I'm appealing to your good nature instead. Did you know that you can allow ads for specific sites, whilst still blocking them on others?

Thanks,
Ian Williams aka Fetch

Some great races by the sound of it, but 9 hour cut off for the 50 miler rules me out as well :-)

The cut-offs do seem very inconsistent across the series :-

Dafa Way 50k, 7 hours - 13.5 mins/miles
Coastal Trail 50 miles, 9 hours - 10.8 mins/mile
Speyside 37 miles, 9 hours - 14.6 mins/mile
Speyside 66 miles, 18 hours - 18.4 mins/mile
Moray Way 100 miles, 24 hours - 14.4 mins/mile

The 50 miler is especially aggressive, with same time allowance as the 37 miler. It starts at 7am, so all to be finished by 4pm, and in June, so tons of daylight - strange.

Wonder if he's mis-calculated, or perhaps there's some logistical reasons why

Sure the 50 miler is fairly flat but some of the route will be along the beach/dunes so that will be hard work.
The Dava has a bit of climb but 7 hours would be do-able for most, I might think about that one

Cheeky bugger Dave_K! I like to take my time, I'm with IanS 😊.

Thanks for the info K5Gus, I could maybe train hard for the Speyside 66.

It's also a strange time to open entries, noon on a Thursday? Most folk will be at work.

Best way to avoid crashing the booking site I'd have thought!

I wonder how he'll lengthen the Dava Way route. From memory, Grantown to Forres was about 24 miles. Nice trails either end for another 7 though.

The Coastal trail is very flat and runable. Even the 'beach' sections have firm trail just back of the beach, and the old railway has a lot of tarmac these days. Lots of work has been done to improve the Dava Way but it can still be muddy in places and has a fair climb.

The big question is can I still run 100 miles in 24 hrs? Not that I've ever done it, but the WHW is worth 100 I think.

The Coastal path would be great with a Kinloss to Lossie Half style 'wind tunnel westerly'... and no fun at all if an easterly blew up.
