After last week's dramatic cramping issue I've decided to buy one of those running belt things with the littel water bottles on them. That was I can take on water at the water stations and boost, in between, with the juice I've been training with. (yep, said juice and didn't even snigger - much)

Do I want one with 2 or 4 bottles?

I need a pouch for all the crap I carry when running

Do they ride up and end up under your boobs / moobs?

Do they chafe?

Do they bounce around like feck?

I'm not a fashion-conscious man, but I'll have a perm before I'm seen with a utility belt.

Best one I ever bought came from Lidl. Has three small bottles, but I usually only use 2 & keep the third space for a gel. It also has a zipped section for keys/emergency cash.

It doesn't ride up/chafe, and fits nicely round my waist with a velcro fastening.

forgive my ignorance but whats the difference between having lots of little bottles rather than having one big bottle ? i could never work out the difference...displaced weight or something perhaps?

I've got a Run & Move one. It came with 2 bottles, and I bought 2 more to go with it. Doesn't ride up, velcro fastening again. Pocket for phone, gels, keys etc.

I have a Nathan one I bought years ago and used twice -- first time I got on fine with it, second time it annoyed the hell out of me and I've not used it since. You're quite local to me aren't you? Happy to let you try it out if you want. It didn't chafe or bounce too much, I think I was just having a bad day the second time and now manage without.

Can't remember the exact model but it's a bit like this one nathansports.com

Just make sure that the one you get keeps hold of the botles, the amount of those damn things I have seen on the floor of races is unbelievable. At least 2 ;)
