Hi ,
It looks like you're using an ad blocker.

The revenue generated from the adverts on the site is a critical part of our funding - and it's because of these ads that I can offer the site for free. But using the site for free AND blocking the ads doesn't feel like a great thing to do, which is why this box is so large and inconvenient. Some sites will completely block your access, but I'm not doing that - I'm appealing to your good nature instead. Did you know that you can allow ads for specific sites, whilst still blocking them on others?

Thanks,
Ian Williams aka Fetch

Cadence, vertical oscillation, 50m waterproof, bluetooth, wifi and a small gas hob to cook beans on. It's got everything! :-)G

The more expensive one sounds great and will provide endless food for "efficient" runners to talk about, but what I most want is the ability to change settings via a GUI on my laptop, and not to have to fiddle with sequences of pressing buttons.

I tend to set my watch up once and never fiddle with it again Chris. After that, it's all about the stats you can get out. So new stuff like vertical osciallation and cadence will be really interesting.

Wifi and bluetooth will be useful for transferring. And back to good old USB too, rather than ANT stick. Thank goodness! :-)G

I agree, and I have a slightly dodgy 410 with bezel, so to a large extent I'm settled on the factory settings. There are times I'd like to change bits: in particular for me, I'd like to be able to turn autopause on and off.

I wonder what it'll cost.....

On my 305 and now 310, I would sometimes change from run to bike and maybe look at some different stats on bike. But mostly just keep it fixed when actually running. You need to know when you glance at it, exactly where to look to make sure you get the right stat. I have 4 data fields showing - time, lap pace, pace (current) and distance. So I know which quadrant to look at for the stat I need.

On 310xt, I've now got a screen with heading and time of day on it (that's for picnic- ing i.e. when you stop or slow to a walk in an ultra and so on). 305 perished in the rain (after a few 000 miles, and hence many hundreds of hours over a couple of years of daily use). So waterproof for 310 is a big bonus. Main bugbear with 310 is stupid ANT stick. And now they've got rid of it. I guess I'm not alone.

I would think 620 will be near £400 mark. Too rich for my blood. :-)G

They already have a model numbered 620, it's not a Forerunner, but it does cost almost that many pounds!

They all look lovely, but I think I'll wait until they've been around the block a bit. I'm not THAT serious a runner, if one equates seriousness with amount of cash shelled out...

Wiggle are listing them now. 620 is £330 or £360 with the fancy new HRM; 220 is, er, £220 or £250 with HRM (which is not the fancy new one).

DCR says somewhere that, while you can't set the display settings from the computer, you can back up the file that contains them from the watch to your computer. So at least you can put it straight back if you have to do a hard reset, or change easily between different groups of settings, if you use different setups for races, or for 5k/10k versus halves and marathons or whatever.

Oooo they look nice, however I cant justify that expense so it will be a couple year wait until they reach my price range. Currently con sidering another 405 or trying a 610.

£116 price of the 405 might sway decision.

I bought a 410 HT and whilst it does the job wish I'd invested a bit more - given I probably use my garmin more than my TV, oven or similar priced electrical appliance :)
