In an effort to provide a degree of accountability I thought I'd give the training plan another go. I set up two and a half weeks of effort yesterday and this morning received three notifications - for the 2 mile walk, 1 hour ballet class and 30 mins of strength work. Fine so far. I knew the 2 mile walk would be in two bits (1.6 mile and 1 mile) and I logged the ballet class once I'd done it.
What I don't get is this: I thought my plan would automatically update and the 'to dos' would be replaced with the 'dones'. Not exactly so. The class and the walking appear but the original oblongs are still there - just faded out. At the top of the chart there's a bar that details the oblongs with buttons suggesting 'do tomorrow, do next week' or (red alert button!) 'cancel'. I cancelled the two I'd already done but you can see in the grab below the cross training - strength, is still there - greyed out.
Am I missing something? Or is this correct - once you've done the session you hit the red button for cancel?
(Am fool, obvs, and don't want to bother Mr. Fetch)

I just leave them greyed out. Once they are greyed out they aren't added into the weekly total at the end of the row. And they aren't in the log.

You should find tomorrow that the greyed out items on the plan have gone, you don’t need to cancel them.

I'm trying to answer the question based on my experiences with fetch training plans so far. I've used both self-created sessions in my plan as well as pre-configured training plans for marathon training which were uploaded by other users. Training plans work like this (as far as I understand it):
I see the planned sessions for the week and I get notifications each day just like you did. When I do a session with Garmin and sync it, it appears next to the planned session which is greyed out. E.g. I had a 5 mile easy run planned but I did 5.3 instead, I'll see the greyed out 5 and below it the session I actually ran.
The weekly totals are calculated from the completed sessions (today, that would be Monday to Thursday) and the planned sessions for the rest of the week (today, that's Friday to Sunday) So the plan doesn't replace the actual session with the planned session, it just displays them side by side.
I don't think you can download the planned session on your phone or a watch and do it and then it will be updated. As far as I know, fetch isn't set up to be compatible with phone apps or smartwatches.
Within a training system, be it Garmin, training peaks, Stryd or whatever your chosen app/watch, it works like what you described. When I do planned sessions from my Garmin 10k plan, they get downloaded to my watch, I start the session. Upon saving it, it replaces the planned session with the actual run.
I hope this was helpful.

The greyed out items do not disappear overnight.

PS: Anything that's greyed out can't be changed in the plan, but as previous posters said, they won't count towards your total, so you don't need to worry about them. Only completed sessions will plus the planned sessions on future days.

Thanks all. That's clear enough.
I just want a pretty chart for my own amusement - I don't bother about totals or anything cos I don't do distance running. And natch I want to do what I have planned or am Pathetic Failure.
I will cancel the greyed out sessions once I've done and logged them - ie the actual and the planned sessions both appear at once.

Ah yes, on the same day, you can still cancel greyed out sessions. I just tried that with today's run and it worked. I can't cancel anything greyed out from the previous days though.

And greyed out sessions will spoil the look of my pretty plan. Am very shallow and only concerned with appearances so must remember to to hit the red button each day.
Thanks again!

Sharkie it sounds like you need to view the log as well as the plan
