Ha! Could you imagine a marathon around the city though! There's be no end of complaints about the hills and the cobbles. I love running around the city and around Arthurs Seat, but it is HARD! Edinburgh is popular because its known as a flat* course
* it certainly didn't feel remotely flat on that long stretch.

Boab, where about on the EMF website can you search for results by name or number - can't see that option anywhere

Gus if you click on the photos link you can then type in persons name or number and you get their photos and finishing time, no splits though.

Mave, fair point but the name of Edinburgh is used to sell what is, effectively, an East Lothian Marathon. That route makes it very difficult to spectate.
The problem with the EMF is that there appears to be a suspicion - rightly or wrongly - that it is focused too much on profit rather than providing a decent racing/spectating experience that other races appear to provide for a lot less money.
As an Edinburger (?) it pains me to say that, the sooner Glasgow creates its own marathon, the better.

I think my OH found it far easier to spectate than at other races. He got the train to Prestonpans and saw me at mile 13 and 24 and then made it to the reunion area before I did! The out and back route is hard to run, but easy for spectators to see their runners twice, far easier than big looping races. I imagine its hard to get beyond Longniddry though, evidenced by the almost complete lack of support out there.
The shuttle bus scandal is appalling and does prey on the tourists who don't know about the city buses and trains. I'm thankful i sought advice and avoided then entirely.

I was tempted to enter this next year as entries are now open (keep forgetting en they open it) but it seems things haven't improved.
I don't mind the route although I've said before it would be far better to finish it near Arthur's Seat / Holyrood which is in the city and has plenty of space and will get rid of the need for buses which surely will save the organisers £££.
So you still need to walk the couple of miles up to the bus station place after finishing? I did catch a local bus one year from a street near the racecourse that saved a lot of time.
What's up with the t-shirts anyway? Non-technical, really cheap cotton? And is the medal still phallic looking?

I really like my t shirt. It is technical. The small is a small and tight fitting. Nice design. 26.2 emblazoned across the back. Nice dark blue colour.
The medal is slightly weaponry looking-tries to capture the Edinburgh skyline i think. No complaints from me on that front either.
the buses-friends of mine who did the 1/2 had to wait for up to an hour with hundreds of other runners while the drivers of the 11 parked up buses were on a break :-\ The pick up point was a mile away and they cost £4 when a local bus stop was next to the finish and cost £1.50 to get into the city centre.

Scott S, it last finished at Holyrood Park in 2006 but moved the year after.
To be fair, it also seems to be an 'unlucky' marathon in terms of the weather, the water being stolen one year and bus drivers getting lost (as happened yesterday). But there is still a huge scope for improvement to be value for money.

Scott S - it's the runners who pay £££ for the buses, not the organisers
