Hi ,
It looks like you're using an ad blocker.

The revenue generated from the adverts on the site is a critical part of our funding - and it's because of these ads that I can offer the site for free. But using the site for free AND blocking the ads doesn't feel like a great thing to do, which is why this box is so large and inconvenient. Some sites will completely block your access, but I'm not doing that - I'm appealing to your good nature instead. Did you know that you can allow ads for specific sites, whilst still blocking them on others?

Thanks,

So just how much "coin" do you reckon these guys are raking in and keeping short changing us runners? Cash in £1m + cash out I would have to say surely considerably less.

HT ,I dont trust them, every event has its own uniqe (or sometimes repeated) problems. However, as its in my home town I know I will be back - albeit not for any of these half and quarter kilomathon nonsense events.I did quite like the full kilomathon but that only lasted one year - albeit I got ripped off as they started to give places away virtually while I had paid full whack along with a fuill marathon place - there is no sense of cusromer loyalty

I love that it's in my home town. (Kind of, I'm from the Weege) I hate that it doesn't really go through Edinburgh and runs from Edinburgh and away out miles away. Race course finish would be awesome but that park is ok although that stuff towards the finish line was weird to run on and a bit slippy by the time us slower guys got there.

There is simply no excuse for running out of t shirts, gels or goodie bags and it doesn't sound like they even learn from their mistakes. I wrote a message and their fb page as did many others but none of us got a reply. I emailed them and told them how disappointed I was. I gave them my address and all they said was my t shirt would be sent to me.

Loved the course, great organisation, yeah the walk to the bus is a pain (literally)

Thought the finishing area worked well. Loads of water.Great tee and an offensive weapon medal.
Thank you Edinburgh

Pardon me but it's absolutely fcking ridiculous about the results not being released. It's a bloody running race where one competes against other runners. If every race did this it would make the sport a complete joke. Really disappointed. I will not be going back unless they change this policy.

Well done gingembre.

The non publication of full results is a farce as you can search on their website for surname or number and you get the runners full name and time anyway. I suspect it is a money saving exercise with regards to bandwidth by their service provider. I don't think they really have an understanding of data protection law and are using that as an excuse.

Regarding the results I hope they are released to Power of 10 or the RunBritain site, not fair if you got a ranking time and it's not listed.

They may have run out of gels because i saw some runners grab handfuls of them. This isn't the Marshalls fault -they can hardly run after them and get them back. Runners shouldn't be so selfish.

there is no excuse for the TShirts and goodybags though, but it sounds like they are sending those out to people who didn't get them. I was lucky and got the size i ordered, and really like my T shirt. Again, did they run out because earlier finishers were picking up a size they didn't order?!

I was annoyed with the baggage-my dry clothes and phone were wet. I stayed in Musselburgh so avoided the shuttle bus problem. That was thanks to advice on here!

Cramp attacks after 30K made this really tough for me - but I got it done, and beat my one previous marathon time. Sub 5 next time definitely. The cramps were probably my own fault - too few long runs, complacent after running Rome in March. Still - it's hard and it's sore but it is also strangely joyous.
I agree with the comments above about the course. It should be called the Firth of Forth marathon. I feel sorry for tourist runners who see nothing of Edinburgh. There is so much to see in the city itself: castle, QE2, Holyrood (we did see that and the parliament), Royal Mile, Murrayfield, Greyfriar's Bobby, the Meadows, Princes Street, Scott Monument, Botanics, GomA and so on. I personally would be gutted to travel to a major city for its marathon and to see so little of it.
I've no real complaints about the finish area - I got my goody bag and correct size of shirt - though I was over 5 hours getting there so the rush would have died down. (It did look like a box of them had just arrived and was being ripped open - misplaced?)

I liked the t-shirt. A nice big bragging 26.2 on the back and the wee emf tab on the side was a nice wee touch.
Well done everyone.

NelskiBL - the Great Edinburgh Run took most of those sites in this year which was great, although it was only a 10 mile race. Its a shame that the "Edinburgh Marathon" is actually nowhere near the city!!

I can't understand how GSi continue to get it wrong year after year. You would think they would learn from their mistakes and use the feedback to sort things out. I've never had an inclination to do the 10k or half as part of the festival and I like running in Edinburgh!!
