Hi ,
It looks like you're using an ad blocker.

The revenue generated from the adverts on the site is a critical part of our funding - and it's because of these ads that I can offer the site for free. But using the site for free AND blocking the ads doesn't feel like a great thing to do, which is why this box is so large and inconvenient. Some sites will completely block your access, but I'm not doing that - I'm appealing to your good nature instead. Did you know that you can allow ads for specific sites, whilst still blocking them on others?

Thanks,
Ian Williams aka Fetch

I think there's too much complaining about this event, lot's of complaints on the Facebook page as well - it was my first time doing this (Only ran the half) as it's lauded as fast and flat - didn't feel like it to be honest! But still got a huge PB so I will always remember it for this!

Yes there are improvements which could be made, never been to a race ever where everything was perfect, walk to the P&R buses was a bit far but if I had looked at the location properly before hand I could have made a decision on that, I managed the walk back in a 'sunny' spell about 11 am so was fine really.

Scooba - as I mentioned, there is very little goodwill topwards the race or, more specifically, its organisers.

Most folk take part because it is the most convenient major marathon for Scotland.

Got to say i like the route as it is, run the 2006 route finishing in Hollyrood park which was also quite good as the route started on Princess street then round by the grass market i think before heading out to crammond before tuning back along the waterfront passing Ocean terminal and Portabello before turning back into Hollyrood park which was a great venue for a finish.
I think the yearly cockups keep things interesting though, gives us something to talk about other than the weather;-)

Well done to all who run at the weekend:)

I run from the start to Musselburgh before the half set off so got drenched along the way but was there before the leaders of the half come through!!

I knew there would be a trek to the buses, there was also the option of taking a normal bus.

Personally I have no issue with the course. Think it's great in fact.

No results though? That is quite literally staggering. It's a fcking running race.

interesting about not publishing results...I wonder what the driver is behind that decision.? I know several runners who ran some great races on the day and PB'd however, there improved and rather impressive times won't be reflected in Powerof10.

I for one am seriously p@%sed off that the race results are not being published. I ran this race to get a V50 ranking, and now find that I do not -- WTF!!

It is an IAAF Bronze race and the rules state

3.9 Timing
3.9.1 Races must provide fully electronic timing by use of active or passive transponders. Real time splits and final results should be made available to media, spectators and online.

3.12 Data Processing and Results
3.12.1 Races shall email the official results of the competition for the top 20 male and top 20 female finishers to the IAAF immediately following the completion of the competition, using the format in the Race Directors Report Form.

I must have run this after 2006 as the first time I did it, it had a small expo at the gym in Leith (nr the Premier Inn) and finished at Musselburgh racecourse.
Second year, no expo and it also finished at the racecourse but with the baggage trucks inside the grounds so you didn't have to walk a mile down the road and through a gate wide enough for one person at a time (with two way traffic) and then across a park to get your things at the race village the third time I did it (I think)
Also finished after that on the road near the racecourse with a long walk down some residential backstreet to the tables with t-shirts and water before looping around the long slog to the buses.

As for us paying for the buses, surely they must incur some costs from having to order them well in advance and other admin related bits?
Saves tying up so many of the roads and causing congestion by finishing in Edinburgh itself.

sorry if this has been covered, but regarding the lack of "public" results....... if you were trying to use your EMF time as proof for a GFA time for a future race how would you prove it.. I guess you'd have to try a screen shot from your "MyDetails" page? Luckily I ran a time of 3:50:13 so won't have to try and use my EMF time to prove I beat the London GFA time as I missed by it by those 13 secs!!!!

I got a T-shirt in the correct size and with the correct distance though :-)

...... and unexpected vest sunburn marks after the predicted rain forecasts!!!

Guys, its a Scottish Athletics registred event. they have to send results to SA within 28days. hang in there. its also an international accredited one now remember, ie- if someone broke a world record it would count. unlike loch ness because of the *downhill* element
