I did my first gardening of the year today. And we put up a nest box that was just on a shelf in the garage - don't know if anything will nest in it but if not this year then maybe next. Among my gardening newts was I planted some lettuce and tomato seeds - neither of which I have attempted to grow before (they probably won't grow anyway). And I found some potatoes in the 'veg' bit of the garden but I wasn't sure if they were for eating or for growing more potatoes from so I left them in situ for the time being.

I'm in awe of the decorating. And the gardening. Our garden is a North facing quagmire which has been made 10x worse this winter with the addition of a dog.

I am not very good at gardening but when we moved here we inherited a very well cared for garden so I now make far more of an effort than I ever used to!

First kayak of the year and first time I’ve paddled that section of the canal. It was lovely to see everyone and have a social.
Another newt is roast cauliflower for the first time. I was roasting other veg so decided to give it a try.

I have a newt by proxy. eL Bee! has been out for his first ride on his solo road bike for several years. Normally he rides one of his mountain bikes or the tandem.

Another NEWT: I cleared a narrow passage behind my house of brambles, nettles and ivy. Two bulkbags of it. So tomorrow they can dig a 60 cm deep trench between my building and the house to connect services... I never use that space. It transpires to be bigger than I thought it was after clearing it...

Golly you've all been busy with new things! My Newt is that I've heard Korngold's Violin Concerto for the first time at today's concert. It was fabulous. Korngold is acknowledged by John Williams as one of his inspirations and you could really tell. I think I've caught up on you all and my pick of the day is Dio for picking up his guitar again

Good choice AL! I'm also going to look up Korngold.
I've just registered for my first car boot sale. I've never even been to one, never mind sell at one! Let the decluttering begin
