Hi ,
It looks like you're using an ad blocker.

The revenue generated from the adverts on the site is a critical part of our funding - and it's because of these ads that I can offer the site for free. But using the site for free AND blocking the ads doesn't feel like a great thing to do, which is why this box is so large and inconvenient. Some sites will completely block your access, but I'm not doing that - I'm appealing to your good nature instead. Did you know that you can allow ads for specific sites, whilst still blocking them on others?

Thanks,
Ian Williams aka Fetch

Thank you for the pick, jda :) It's such a relief to be able to run again without niggles after years of problems.

Such a shame the local shop won't allow you to supply them, Hann - how petty.

I am trying to crochet again. Have pretty much mastered tying a slip knot and making a chain, and moved onto double crochet (or is it single crochet??) with the aid of a YouTube video called ‘Extremely slow crocheting for left-handed idiots’*.

I really want to be able to do it (like everyone else in the world can), but I find it sooo non-initiative and difficult to wrap my brain around.

*Not quite, but that’s basically what it is.

Gimme, they are fools! And we leave it at that. I had a lot of stress from it to begin with. Harassment, intimidation, they sprayed herbicides on my crops... I have given up to try and understand them and took a Buddhist stance and refused to react. So every time they did something nasty, I would do something nice! So I have a lovely carved standing stone name sign. I have a gorgeous pond, lovely chestnut paling, an old olive tree in a pot and on it goes. In fact, that olive tree produced olives, which I picked and pickled. I will soon taste them and share them as a newt! Home grown olives, on the Welsh borders!!!

Thanks Gimme :)

It wasn't easy at first but the only way for me to deal with the stress and negativity and agression. I also seriously strengthened my loving kindness practice, sending them love in a 10 minute meditation every day...

Karma works. She is now seriously ill I heard from her husband last night. He singled me out with the tractor in one of their fields last night. I thought he was going to have a go but in stead he wanted to talk, like the olden days, when I thought we were good neighbours.

We saw PSB as an early spring crop - planted ours out (plug plants) in October last year and have been harvesting since very late Feb. Have one plant left and they've been brilliant. I always eat most of most plants - leaves, stalks, 'flowers' whatever.

Were yours from seed Hanneke?

Mine were from seed indeed.
Interestingly, I haven't sown anything yet this year. For some reason I just don't seem to have the oomph this year. I do have tomatoes and peppers coming on though, in the heated propagator.

starblackheartstar The sixth running of Do a New Thing for Spring starblackheartstar

Lent has a special and specific meaning to Christians but has become an secular season of denial and hair shirting that serves no positve purpose. No chocolate, no booze, no -er - other stuff.

Why not treat the build up to Easter - as a chance to celebrate and embrace NEW THINGS - that's what spring is about after all.

The first few pages of the thread give more ideas.
