Hi ,
It looks like you're using an ad blocker.

The revenue generated from the adverts on the site is a critical part of our funding - and it's because of these ads that I can offer the site for free. But using the site for free AND blocking the ads doesn't feel like a great thing to do, which is why this box is so large and inconvenient. Some sites will completely block your access, but I'm not doing that - I'm appealing to your good nature instead. Did you know that you can allow ads for specific sites, whilst still blocking them on others?

Thanks,

I am doing a duathlon in September (Thanks to Iron-Mum!) Can I get some opinions about shorts versus seat padding? I need something to increase comfort, but I am not sure which way to go?

I'd go for padded shorts - if you're cycling fairly regularly, you'll get used to the saddle anyway. I only need my padded shorts when I get to 30+ miles.

How far is the ride mollsmum? I changed the seat on my hybrid to a female specific one and that made a huge difference. I'm assuming you are going to run as well and I just find the padding on some cycling shorts a bit much so I sometimes wear tri shorts.

less is more when it comes to saddles - women's specific saddle if you can, and you will be surprised at what is more comfortable (and it's not the bigger saddle with a gel cover). I agree re the running in padded shorts per Steady Edina above. If you can get some time in the saddle it really does make a difference. It's like your nerve endings finally realise that you are going to do this regularly and ease off.

Tri shorts - easier to run in defo and smaller saddle all the way!
