Hi ,
It looks like you're using an ad blocker.

The revenue generated from the adverts on the site is a critical part of our funding - and it's because of these ads that I can offer the site for free. But using the site for free AND blocking the ads doesn't feel like a great thing to do, which is why this box is so large and inconvenient. Some sites will completely block your access, but I'm not doing that - I'm appealing to your good nature instead. Did you know that you can allow ads for specific sites, whilst still blocking them on others?

Thanks,

Looking for a bike shoe which is durable rather than sleek or pretty. I prefer something not too clickety-clacky as I do't want to sound like Fred Astaire when I go into a pub to er fill my water bottle. Any recommendations?

One that fits. Some shoes have the cleats more recessed for less click clack. Eg Mr W's shoes, which have lasted really well: Specialised RBX Road (go up 1 EU size).

Road cleats or MTB cleats? Or just 'fashion' stiff soled cycling shoes?

But really, anything from the big manufacturers: Shimano, Specialized, Giro, Northwave or Sidi will do the job. Pick something that's comfy but reasonably rigid and which you can bear to wear in public.

The lace up Shimano touring shoe is an excellent thing, assuming they still do it.

Yes, they do

wiggle.co.uk

Picture doesn't show it (which in itself is good) but in bad light the reflective stuff on the shoes is super-efficient. Walking a few miles in them is no problem at all. Really good bit of kit.

I bought a pair of the DHB wiggle own brand spd shoes last year. They're pretty good.
