I like it when it's a 'wee bit oozy'. Felt cheated last year when it was pretty dry & clean...

Clegg Alley is the bit the goes from Trowan Farm just after the water station until you get back onto Lady Mary's beside the Earn. It always gets overgrown at this time of year and needs savage treatment to reveal the path again - full body cover sometimes isn't even enough to defend against the blood-sucking monster cleggs that live along there when we do the strimming work. But I'm not aware that they've ever claimed a victim on race day ![]() |

That's the 10K course strimming done for another year...never seen it so overgrown! Hopefully it won't all grow back again in a week :-(. Had to chainsaw a big tree that had fallen across the track at about 4km but it's clear now and looking good in the sunshine today! If you're planning to run it I would recommend off-road shoes as it's pretty muddy in places. If it rains much more then I may revise my recommendation to wellies! Oh and the mugs arrived on Friday - they look really good and should make a nice memento. |

I'm thinking about doing this next weekend, would you recommend for someone who is around 60 min 10k and more of a 'fun runner' than one of those athlete 'real runner' people?

Tricky question princesszee. It's a friendly race on a lovely course so from that point of view I would definitely recommend it. But it is also a tough one with a big a hill in the first couple of km and it's going to be muddy this year making it a bit harder than usual. You should probably add about 10 mins to your flat road 10k time when making your prediction. Last year's results are here: strathearnharriers.org.uk to give you an idea. Hope that helps!

Shoe-lace, looking forward to this, quick question about the course. Looking at the map on the website, then just after the start there is a bit on a yellow road, then it moves onto a white road heading west - is that bit of white road tarmac, or a farm track ? Just trying to work out how much road there is and which of my off-road shoes would be best. Thanks, Angus |
