Unfortunately, after 4 good years of support, The Famous Grouse Experience have withdrawn their sponsorship this year as the brand is trying to distance itself from sport. This means that the race name has reverted to the plain old "Crieff 10k" and there may not be the usual nip of whisky in the goody bag. Apart from that it'll be the same beautiful trail run alonside the River Earn, the same pipers encouraging you up the hill and at various points around the course, the same post-race spread and the same friendly atmosphere. Who's up for it this year???

There's a tough old pull up Laggan Hill near the 2K mark but once that's done and dusted it's all downhill from there...well nearly all. Once you get onto Lady Mary's Walk it's lovely easy running alongside the river but save something for the run in pver the school playing fields which seem to stretch on for ever when you're tired! @shyfire: I shouldn't worry too much about cut-offs. Last year we had 278 runners with 45 runners overt an hour and the final runner coming in in 1.22 or so . 2011 results are here: http://www.strathearnharriers.org.uk/Crieff10kresults2011.pdf. Hope you both do decide to run it!

A brand new tea urn has been delivered, race mug mementos are on order, jelly-beans, discount vouchers and race numbers have arrived thanks to Run4It (www.run4it.co.uk). Pipers have been contacted and the usual Crieff 10K weather has been requested. We will also be having a junior 1 mile race (9-15 year olds) around the school playing fields.

I woud advise anyone that doesn't have off-road shoes to think about investing in them as it's a wee bit oozy in places. On the other hand it's always sunny on race day so maybe it'll have dried up by then. Lots of strimming and machete work to be done before then too especially along "clegg alley" (around 6k on the route). Such fun
