Friends who did it last year were very critical of the crowding in the pens and there were lots of fallers around them, which put me off but I might have a go next year if they've sorted that out now.
Shred Betty Oct 2014 9:47am, 6 Oct 2014 453 posts	0 Shred Betty I don't know why, it didn't seem nearly as bad for crowding and congestion this year, but it didn't seem like they'd done anything different?! Didn't see any fallers this year, and have the previous two years. It was a great day for it - didn't quite manage to sneak under two hours, but gave it a good try!
Oysterboy Oct 2014 10:04am, 6 Oct 2014 10,008 posts	0 Oysterboy I did feel a little bit restricted for the first two miles but it wasn't too bad and with a lot of weaving a made it through. This was mostly because I started way too far back and I couldn't fight through the people to get near the front of the pen. "Over 2 hours" seems like a pretty wide bracket so maybe they'd benefit from refining it a bit more given what a huge race it is. I thought I'd finish in about two hours, managed just under that in the end but could see the 2:15 pacer miles ahead of me in the pen and couldn't get anywhere near them.

monsenb1 Oct 2014 10:48am, 6 Oct 2014 1,394 posts	0 monsenb1 I was fairly at the front in the orange pen and it took me 1 min to cross the start line. So I didn't really have any overcrowding issues.

mrsdistraction Oct 2014 12:30pm, 6 Oct 2014 214 posts	0 mrsdistraction I was in the yellow pen, took me 18 minutes to get across the start line. I didn't mind the mass start, and I managed to get a PB as well taking me under 2hr30
