He would definitely have been wearing a helmet, and I'd be surprised if he wasn't lit up like a Christmas tree. This is the guy's job, he's not some pavement chav on a nicked bike (which are the only cyclists we seem to have in Grimsby)

Apart from the fact that he has been fairly vocal about helmets in the past, I don't see the relevance of helmets here. They don't help you avoid collisions, and he broke his ribs, not his head.

Lots of people being nice & vocal about cyclists as a result of this. Apparently, we all cause accidents, none of us signal, we always wear black, us road cyclists never look where we're going, none of us have lights, no helmets, ride on the pavement, all ride 3 abreast! I mean .... I could go on!!

That's not a surprise. It's just jealousy on the part of car drivers.

Wouldn't he be wearing team kit? I imagine he is paid to?

Maybe, JohnnyO, but maybe not when he's "off duty". I gather from witnesses that when Cav did some winter miles round the lanes of Essex last year he often wore his Rainbow Jersey.

You would, though, wouldn't you. I'd be in yellow if I were Wiggo.
Although polka-dots are often on display up here in super-flat Lincolnshire...
