Hi ,
It looks like you're using an ad blocker.

The revenue generated from the adverts on the site is a critical part of our funding - and it's because of these ads that I can offer the site for free. But using the site for free AND blocking the ads doesn't feel like a great thing to do, which is why this box is so large and inconvenient. Some sites will completely block your access, but I'm not doing that - I'm appealing to your good nature instead. Did you know that you can allow ads for specific sites, whilst still blocking them on others?

Thanks,
Ian Williams aka Fetch

On my bike ride on the Exe Estuary Trail this morning. I'm not sure, actually, whether it *is* a lovely bench, but it's certainly got a lovely view.

That looks familiar - we did the East Devon Way in June and it quite possibly passed that bench

Similarly, not really a lovely bench but a lovely view of the Maroochy River.

That lovely bench that Fleecy found near Ryde (the one with the poppies) I now see from our local FB page is one of many (or several, I don't know the number) located around the country. There's also another in the same style, with the silhouette of a soldier in the metalwork. Nice idea as a permanent memorial, I think.

Slightly off on a tangent - this is from an exhibition of Thonet bentwood chairs and benches we saw today. You could walk one side of the screen to examine the pieces themselves and on the other side, you could just see their silhouettes. I thought it was a very creative wayto display them and their lovely shapes.
