Once a Sprinter ...
Hi! I lived in Shanghai for a couple of years and still spend a lot of time in Beijing and travelling to other cities. To be honest I rarely run outside in Shanghai or BJ. Too many people and often the weather is either too hot or too cold.

Probably the best place to run in Shanghai is Century Park - this a reasonably sized park in Pudong, although actually the streets around the Park are not so busy and woudl be OK to run on

In Beijing I know a few expats run in Chaoyang Park, but I can not be bothered to go there so treadmill for me. It's very cold there at the moment

Hope this helps

Thanks OaS.
I've looked at the online route sites run free, but just because someone has logged a route doesn't mean it's nice. I only need to look at the routes I have recorded on Fetch to doubt my own sanity.

Too true LG. Thought it would be nice to see a mapped route though.

I have run-ish on the outskirts of Beijing. Was stared at a lot (being a tall Chinese gal). You probably won't have that problem since you'll probably be in high tourist areas?

There were crowded places, but was all good for sight seeing at the same time :-) Going out for a run was an excuse for me to get out and explore. Have always found the "front desk" helpful.

Good luck and have fun :-)
