Hi ,
It looks like you're using an ad blocker.

The revenue generated from the adverts on the site is a critical part of our funding - and it's because of these ads that I can offer the site for free. But using the site for free AND blocking the ads doesn't feel like a great thing to do, which is why this box is so large and inconvenient. Some sites will completely block your access, but I'm not doing that - I'm appealing to your good nature instead. Did you know that you can allow ads for specific sites, whilst still blocking them on others?

Thanks,

Hi all

I'm off to China on business in a couple of days. I don't really want to spend 2 weeks running on a treadmill, so has anyone got experience of running outside in Tianjin, Qingdao, Dongying, Nanjing or Shanghai? Good places / places to avoid / general advice.

Thanks

I was in Guangzhou for 2 weeks last year. It was very hot - 33 degrees every day and humid. personally i stuck on the treadmill as the streets were quite busy and uneven and if I'd have got lost a rather unpleasant scenario would have ensued as most the locals don't speak english.I'd suggest having a short circular route and do it many times rather than an out and back. Ask at recep they sometimes have a jogging route map.

Shanghai is kind of congested. Makes London look underpopulated. It was also terribly humid when I was there so I ran on the treadmill.

It's minus 5 in Tianjin and +5 in Shanghai at the moment so I'm not fearing the heat...
Keep 'em coming though.

A friend of mine runs in Shanghai regularly and has not had any issues. She's just been accepted for the Great Wall half as well - she's well chuffed.

Just realised, that's probably not helpful at all really.

As you were.

Any chance of asking her for running route tips TQ? I'm not expecting "issues" as such, I'd just like to avoid dual carriageways and busy pavements if at all possible. Ta.
