Well, despite the trepidation this turned out much better than expected and yes, I am pleased.
The intention was to run at 11 m/m pace but the hills (down as well as up) really don't allow it. The first couple of miles are mainly downhill (alarmingly so when you know you've got to get back up them again at the finish!) so they were a bit quick.
Ran with FlynnagunnII and it does help when I have someone to encourage along - she did great though and it was nice to have company even though neither of us are very chatty - works well!
I did find the first half of the race rather tedious - it seemed to take ages and you know you've got to do it all again. But after half way there are lots of things to count down - getting into double figure miles, getting to just 10, 5 3 km to go........so it seemed much easier.
There was some walking up the steeper hills (I think mile 16 was one of those) but not a lot.
And, I had some left in the tank at the finish - ran quickly round the field at the end and could have run more.
A good result, I reckon. :-)
