Interview with MsG

pedroscalls asks: Congratulations MsG, my question is, if time and money were no object what route or race would you love to do?

MsG says: Thank you :-)
Ignoring traffic concerns and practicalities, probably to do a long distance ride in Europe or attempt the North Coast 500 northcoast500.com
run free asks: Fantastic and well deserved. What would you like to change in this country if you were chosen as the prime minister?

MsG says: Thanks :-)
Universal income, annual safeguarding training for all over 16, proportional representation, nationalise public transport (properly), nationalise utilities, change prepayment meter tariffs to be the same as those on direct billing (i.e. downwards), free yoga classes, harsher penalties (and implemented) for motorists causing incidents such as injury to cyclists and pedestrians
Stevce asks: Well deserved MsG, of all the churches that you have visited on your millions of miles that you have travelled, do you have a favourite and if so why?

MsG says: Thanks :-)
hmm, that is difficult. I generally prefer the simpler churches actually. One of my favourites (which wasn't on a bike ride) is St Laurence's Church, Bradford-on-Avon, Wiltshire, which is one of the few remaining Anglo-Saxon churches. greatenglishchurches.co.uk
Little and Great Eversden are also interesting because someone with an artist's eye (probably Anthony Green) seems to do the arrangements. There are complementary artworks by him in the two churches (which reminds me I haven't blogged the other one!)

westmoors asks: Congratulations MsG. If you could meet anyone, past or present, who would it be and why?

MsG says: Thank you :-)
I am not very good with meeting people, so it wouldn't be much of a conversation. Either Cary Grant, or Emmeline Pankhurst.
Mushroom asks: Congratulations. You have to choose one ticket - for music, film, stage, or sporting event. What would you choose?

MsG says: Thank you :-)
I think it would either be a gig such as The Cure or Curve, or an art exhibition for a private viewing - that would be St Ives artists, particularly Barbara Hepworth, John Wells and Ben Nicholson. Or a visit to the Yorkshire Sculpture Park which I still haven't managed to get to.
Raggedy runner asks: Congratulations. I love your photos including all the cake and pastry ones! Do you methodically file your favourites into albums?

MsG says: Thank you :-)
I'd like to say yes...but that would be a lie! The Friday night rides and day rides I've organised for a group get an album but otherwise no. I use Google Photos so I can search by keywords to find stuff I need.
RRR-CAZ 🇬🇧 asks: Congratulations MsG If were to be offered a golden set of sporting tickets, what event would you choose to watch?

MsG says: Thanks :-)
Tricky. I guess it would be Olympic track cycling, I would love to see Katie Archibald, Laura Kenny and the rest of the Women's track team competing :-)
swittle asks: MotM - not before time! Ride, research, record and write: how do you manage to incorporate such detail, interest and variety into your blogs?

MsG says: Thank you :-)
Interesting question. I have a very visual memory, it's like film or video so I can replay what I've experienced to recall it. Taking photos is for documentation as a prompt for revisiting.
I enjoy looking at the details of what's happening around me, it is just the way I am.
Pothunter asks: Congratulations! What would you have for your “death row” meal? Starter, main and dessert plus something to wash it down?

MsG says: Thank you :-) please see answer to Night-Owl :-)
Tom Tom asks: Congratulations! You seem to have cycled most of East Anglia...what's your favourite route and why?

MsG says: Thanks :-)
Er, that is a tricky one. If I could join certain bits up without the horrid A roads that would be easier. Something keeping to back lanes, possibly with a bit of bridleway. The Ferry ride last year (2021) was really enjoyable, if we could teletransport from Woodbridge to Ipswich without that busy section, it would be very good. The Norwich - Blakeney loop using Bure Valley and Marriott's Way is also a fav because it's nearly traffic free, great landscape plus it goes to one of my favourite places.
RichHL asks: Brilliant! About time, too. Camera or phone for the pictures?

MsG says: :-)
Mostly a Pixel 5, sometimes SONY DSC-RX100M3 (I like to use that for B&W, swapping between aperture and shutter priority).
Night-owl asks: Congratulations what would be the perfect Starter, main meal and dessert be if you were dining out

MsG says: Thanks :-)
I like to have a mixture of small dishes to try lots of things!
Roast spiced squash with feta, sage, pomegranate seeds; gyoza; black dhal; burrata with roasted tomatoes, dukkha and pomegranate molasses; flatbread with black onion seeds; masala grilled prawns; potato dauphinoise and arancini. Then for pudding - cardamom slow cooked rice pudding, a cake from Dulcedo or a pistachio souffle with blackcurrant sorbet. Drinks - depending on the dish, Dunkel lager, a glass of Grüner Veltliner or chilled Manzanilla; may be a Manhattan or Madeira Martini or a Dandy (I like classic cocktails).
