Hmmm. By Poppy Fascists do you mean the rightwing MPs who religiously wear a poppy from about the beginning of October, or do you mean the Poppy organisation, about whom you've discovered explosive new links to, er, Oswald Mosely and the Mitfords? I do hope it's the latter, I love a good scandal.

Perhaps he means the BBC, in that they clearly enforce the wearing of a poppy by all presenters and (as far as possible) all guests during this period. Except - they are effectively forced in to doing that because of the idiot 'patriotic' press that would love to have a "BBC presenter not wearing poppy" story. I'll bet you any money you like that the Mail has an intern watching all BBC channels, all the time, just to try to spot a poppy-less lapel.

Perhaps, but I enjoyed the expression "Poppy Fascists". Perhaps it's a new hobby-horse for Russell Brand.

The Mitfords were misunderstood , but I regret to say that the intended target of my diatribe was indeed the aforementioned MPs , in conjunction with the serried ranks of dutiful BBC journalists , all trumpeting their solidarity with the Glorious Dead , as if the rest of us didn't care ( We do )

bang on Zorba, its ridiculous and if the telly people insist on supporting a charity then where's the cancer charities for example. By all means buy a poppy and wear it but don't use it as a symbol of false patriotic pride.
This year cos I am trendy I am wearing a wrist band, poppy stylie.

Doctor K
Had some pompous twat on about PPI yesterday evening so decided to speak to him. I told him I had never, ever signed up for PPI. "You've never had loans or credit cards?" That isn't what you asked. He went on " Some of them have PPI attached to them and you might not know." Not the ones I've had. "Are you sure...?" Phone down.
I've bought 3 poppies so far but in the unlikely event of me being on the BBC before next Sunday I wouldn't have them telling me I must wear one. They are all in my car presently. I will wear one on Sunday when I time the end of my run to co-incide with the 11am commemoration at the Cenotaph locally.
And Children in Need will be next - you just have to watch that, the BBC orders you to.

I tell the PPI scammers I worked for the FSA and therefore know more about PPI than they ever will and know without a doubt I never had it. It's the automated PPI calls that drive me to fury, no one to argue with and no way of knowing who to complain about.
CIN Is a guaranteed 'no BBC night' Chez Wobble.
