Hi ,
It looks like you're using an ad blocker.

The revenue generated from the adverts on the site is a critical part of our funding - and it's because of these ads that I can offer the site for free. But using the site for free AND blocking the ads doesn't feel like a great thing to do, which is why this box is so large and inconvenient. Some sites will completely block your access, but I'm not doing that - I'm appealing to your good nature instead. Did you know that you can allow ads for specific sites, whilst still blocking them on others?

Thanks,
Ian Williams aka Fetch

I can't stand being winked at. CB learned that one very quickly after I nearly slapped him for it :-0

My old boss, the evil sexist bullying one, used to call me 'doll'. And 'wee girl' Patronising fucker.

I did point out to him once that I was a woman not a girl and definitely animated, so not a doll. He didn't take it well, probably a contributing factor to getting sacked.

Its funny I get called Doll sometimes by one of the messengers here and I don't mind really, I know it's just his way of saying hello to me. I did get called doll by a patronising Kick-boxing instructor and was quite annoyed about it - I tend to react more to tone and what I read into it than the actual word itself.

I think it depends on the power relationship at the start. A boss calling me by a diminutive term seems (to me) more loaded than an equal doing the same.

I work with and know a lot of Welsh people. They often call me flower and I quite like it.
