Hi ,
It looks like you're using an ad blocker.

The revenue generated from the adverts on the site is a critical part of our funding - and it's because of these ads that I can offer the site for free. But using the site for free AND blocking the ads doesn't feel like a great thing to do, which is why this box is so large and inconvenient. Some sites will completely block your access, but I'm not doing that - I'm appealing to your good nature instead. Did you know that you can allow ads for specific sites, whilst still blocking them on others?

Thanks,
Ian Williams aka Fetch

The sort of people that like to tell you that you've got a brake light out.

Yes, but it's the sort of people who tell you Chris, they're annoying. They're the same ones who like to tell you where you can and can't park on a public street or how you should be tending your garden.

[Also, I don't really want to know, it just gives me another job to do.]

But I suspect your gears would be even more ground if a traffic cop decided that was the reason he was going to pull you over.

I certainly tell people about failed lights if I can, but not how or where to park unless they are looking helpless.

OTOH I am strongly tempted to hold up a hairdrier at motorists who drive at 50-60 past the school on our road. Or anywhere else.

I don't know that anyone has ever been pulled over for one brake light out unless the driver was committing some other offence or it was one of many other signs that a vehicle was unroadworthy, or they were just looking for an excuse to pull over that specific driver on suspicion.

[ While marshalling at a checkpoint alongside the A82 last summer, I gave one of the team a large water pistol to play with. Amazing how many drivers suddenly realised they were in a 30 mph zone… ]
